Why Fall and Winter are the Best Times for Lasers and Peels

This treatment uses intense pulsed light to reverse skin damage caused by UV exposure, including dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. When paired with laser skin resurfacing, you’ve got a one-two punch for rejuvenated skin. If you’re following our Instagram page, there’s a good chance you saw the treatment live in action!

One of the big reasons why we offered a special on IPL for November is because the fall and winter months are the best months for laser treatments and chemical peels. Here are just a few reasons why:

  • The days are shorter. While daylight savings time is a royal pain in most of our butts, it makes the perfect setting for anyone who wants to get laser treatments or chemical peels. With mornings staying dark longer and evenings getting dark earlier, there’s a good chance you’ll be leaving your appointment when it’s not as hot or sunny out. It’s best to avoid sun exposure after any of these treatments, as your skin is more sensitive and susceptible to damage when it’s still healing.
  • Your skin is already a little lighter. Due to less sunlight during the day, your skin tends to be at its lightest during the fall and winter months. Laser treatments work best on lighter skin, as it is easier for the light to penetrate. As the sun’s UV rays are at their weakest during these months, you’ll find your laser treatments are more effective and your chemical peels can penetrate your skin more deeply.
  • You can embrace that winter wardrobe. Ok, so this might not be as big of a sell for Floridian skincare addicts, but winter wardrobes tend to have more material - think scarves, turtlenecks, etc. That extra cloth can help you cover up your sensitive skin as it heals. We haven’t really hit our lowest temperatures just yet, but you may find that a scarf is your best friend when you leave the office and prep for recovery.

Believe it or not, extended sun exposure after you’ve gotten a laser treatment can actually make the problems worse. When your skin is healing and there’s a tender, fresh layer of skin at the surface after your procedure, it’s easier for UV rays to get down deep and cause more damage. So, now is the best time for you to book your laser procedure! To learn more, call Samano Aesthetics at 321-397-0692 today.
