March Microneedling Madness – Answering Your Common Questions

winter park microneedling frequently asked questions

Simply turning on your favorite morning talk show can probably tell you that microneedling is all the rage right now, but did you know that this procedure has been around since the 1990s? As skincare technology continued to improve, microneedling came into fashion as a wonder treatment that presents a solution for a number of common skin issues. But microneedling isn’t too good to be true - it’s one of our favorite procedures. That’s why we’re offering it on special for the month of March.

To the uninitiated, microneedling can seem like a bit of a frightening procedure - you may have seen images of Kim Kardashian’s “Vampire Facial” combining microneedling with PRP and been turned off. But microneedling is a much more comfortable procedure than the pictures portray. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about microneedling:

  • Does microneedling hurt? In a nutshell, microneedling uses a series of small needles to create puncture wounds across the surface of the skin, so depending on your pain threshold and the depth of treatment, you may experience some discomfort. However, our estheticians in Winter Park are happy to use numbing creams prior to your treatment to help eliminate any pain during the treatment. As long as you manage your expectations during your consultation, your esthetician will be ready to give you the best experience possible.

  • Will my skin look injured for long after? Nope! One of the reasons why we love microneedling so much is that it involves almost no downtime. Your skin may be a little red at the treatment site, but most people report that this and any pinpoint bleeding go away within a few hours. The punctures are not very deep, so they don’t leave visible wounds on your skin.
  • What can I expect post-treatment? Besides a little redness, you’ll probably notice a healthy glow right off the bat. As your skin heals, you may feel a little itchiness that can be treated easily with over-the-counter cortisone cream. You’ll also notice that your regular topical products seem to be more effective - this is because they’ll be able to penetrate your skin more deeply! So be sure to only use the best on your skin post-treatment.

Microneedling is helpful for a wide variety of common issues, including discoloration, acne, rough texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and even hair loss! This procedure is highly effective when paired with PRP or with specialized serums.
